Jeden Tag müssen wir uns immer mehr mit der Knappheit von Rohstoffen auseinandersetzen. Die Prozesse zur Gewinnung von Naturmaterialien schaden der Erde. Forschung, Arbeit, Projekte und Prototypen führen die Suche nach einer Lösung an, einem neuen Material, das nachhaltiger, weniger belastend und erneuerbar ist. Aber was wäre, wenn die Antwort bereits in den bestehenden Gebäuden liegt?

Gebäude werden mit der Absicht gebaut, für immer dort zu bleiben. Dann enden sie irgendwann als Schutt, augenscheinlich über Nacht nutzlos. Tonnenweise Material wird in Müllcontainern entsorgt. Was passiert mit all dem Schutt? Bald darauf beginnt ein neuer Bau, ein größerer, modernerer mit neuen Materialien. Viele Strukturen werden im Bau neuer Gebäude verwendet. Sie machen Platz für Gehwege, Straßen und temporäre Büros. Diese enden nach kurzer Zeit ebenfalls im Müll.

Wir stellen uns diese Fragen jeden Tag. Deshalb geben wir vielen temporären Materialien des Projekts Stuttgart 21 einen neuen Zweck. Auch andere Gebäude, die bis Ende des Jahres abgerissen werden sollen, sind in unserem Konzept enthalten. Drei Projekte, die ausschließlich Materialien verwenden, die sonst weggeworfen werden würden.

Es können viele Möglichkeiten geschaffen und genutzt werden, für Interventionen, Kunst, Studium und sogar für die Infrastruktur. Hier ist kein neues Material nötig, um schön und funktional zu sein. Unser Ziel ist es, das Potenzial von Materialien zu präsentieren, welche sonst nur zu einem Berg von Schutt in einer Deponie beitragen würden.




Each day we are increasingly dealing with the scarcity of raw materials. Processes for extracting natural materials harm the earth. Research, work, projects, and prototypes take the lead in trying to find a solution, a new material that is more sustainable, less polluting, and renewable. But what if the answer lies within the already existing buildings?

Buildings are constructed with the intention of staying there forever. Then in a moment they end up as rubble, seemingly useless overnight. Tons of materials go into dumpsters. What is done with all the rubble? Soon, a new construction begins, a bigger, more modern building with new materials. Many structures are used within the construction process of new buildings. They make way for sidewalks, roads, and temporary offices. Those end up discarded as well, after a short period of use.

We ask ourselves these questions every day. And that's why we are giving a new purpose to many temporary materials from the Stuttgart 21 project. Other buildings that will be demolished by the end of the year are also included in our concept. Three projects using only materials that would otherwise be discarded.

Many possibilities can be created and utilized for interventions, art, study, and even infrastructure. Here, there is no need for something new to be beautiful and functional. Our goal is to showcase the potential of materials that would only contribute to the mountain of debris in yet another landfill.
